MEET OUR BOARD

Dr. Susan Henderson, Associate Member

 

Dr. Henderson is an Assistant Professor at Sam Houston State University in Counselor Education. She teaches in the Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling track, the Clinical Mental Health track, and the Ph.D. Counselor Education program. Additionally, she is the past coordinator for the Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling program. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate. Additionally, Dr. Henderson has a part-time private practice in Huntsville. Dr. Henderson has an interest in expanding educational options for members. As a result she is on the Educational Committee for TAMFT.  Her research interests include primary attachment relationships and the impact this has on adolescent mental health. She is also passionate about improving training opportunities for students and counseling interns as it relates to evidenced based treatments, supervision, and ethics. Finally, she and her husband have been host parents to Chinese students for the past three years. This has led to her interest in international research as well as giving a voice to marginalized populations (i.e., groups excluded due to race, religion, gender, age, or culture).
