Wen-Mei Chou, Ph.D., LMFT-S, LPC-S

Dr. Wen-Mei Chou, LMFT-S, LPC-S, is an AAMFT Approved Supervisor, a trained hypnotherapist, and a certified Integral Breath Therapy trainer. Dr. Chou currently is a professor and the Coordinator of the Marriage and Family Child Counseling (MFCC) program at the University of Mary Hardin Baylor (UMHB) in Belton, TX, and also serves as a core faculty member in the Clinical Mental Health Program, both accredited by CACREP. Dr. Chou’s areas of expertise include Clinical Skills Training and Supervision, Marriage and Family Therapy, Trauma and Grief issues, Body-Mind-Spirit holistic approach to counseling, Group Counseling, Research, and Social and Cultural diversity.

Dr. Chou was raised and completed her undergraduate degree in Taiwan. She received her graduate and doctoral training in the United States. Her unique cultural background and education have enriched her teaching and clinical practice. Dr. Chou is able to work and relate to clients and students from a variety of ethnic and cultural experiences, who may have limited resources or language skills. She has also developed positive networking resources in both East and West counseling communities.

Dr. Chou received the Outstanding Teaching Award from the Associate for Counselor Education and Supervision (ACES) in 2020, and the Excellence in Teaching Award from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (UMHB) in 2021. She is a clinical member of AAMFT, a member of TAMFT, ACA, TCA, and ACES. She is currently serving as a Co-chair of the TCA Ethics Committee.
