Bridging the Gap: From the Classroom to the Couch

No single program can completely prepare you for the complexities of your ever-evolving role as a professional marriage and family therapist. Take this opportunity to gain confidence as you move forward in your career, learn more about what TAMFT has to offer you, and network with your fellow students! From choosing a career track, managing the licensure process, choosing a supervisor, and exploring solutions to address discrimination; the TAMFT student conference hopes to help you fill in the gaps between the classroom and the couch.

While this conference is being conceived and designed with students in mind (masters and doctoral students), we believe that educators, supervisors, and other therapists may find a lot of value in this all-day online conference, so anyone may register and attend. Scheduled sessions to include: Private Practice and Insurance for Beginners I need to make money: Earning a living as an MFT Responsible self-care: Balancing school, practicum, family, and other responsibilities of students Review, Updates, & Q&A about the LMFT process in Texas. Breakout sessions will include:

  • Overcoming common challenges to earning hours for student interns and LMFT Associates Career Opportunities in MFT What to expect in the dissertation process

  • What to expect in post-masters supervision (and how to find a supervisor)
  • Developing and nurturing your theoretical orientation
