Supporting Military Families During Transition into Civilian Life
Details: Texas is currently home to an estimated 1.5 million veterans and 174,000 active duty service members. In this webinar, participants will gain a basic knowledge of military transition from active duty to civilian, understand the separation from service process for both service members and families, and identify gaps in the current transition process. Participants will learn ways to provide additional resources to military families transitioning into civilian life. Learning Objectives to the webinar: Register NowAbout the Speakers: Paula Boros, Ph.D., LMFT-S, AAMFT Approved Supervisor, received her doctoral degree in Family Therapy from Nova Southeastern University. Dr. Boros’s accomplishments include being a combat veteran, with several military honors and awards; several international and national publications and presentations; being a Professor of Marriage and Family Therapy; and other field distinctions. Within her group practice, Dr. Boros focuses on supervision, creating opportunities for growth and development amongst emerging mental health professionals. Further, assisting clients to take the courageous first steps to get unstuck by discovering and implementing how to help clients become restored. Dr. Boros focuses her research on military/veterans and their families, women’s issues, and life transitions.
Brittany Stallings, LMFT-Associate
Brittany is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy Associate, who recently graduated from Northcentral University. She is a wife, young mom, and Therapist. Her family has recently transitioned out of military life and settled down in central Texas. Their time spent traveling across the country with the military truly opened her eyes to many diverse cultures and she is forever grateful for the ways in which the experiences shaped her as both a person and a therapist. This experience has truly grown her passion for assisting military families in navigating the complex world and aiding trauma survivors in finding healing. She enjoys helping individuals, couples, and families work to get out of and break away from their current cycles. Her therapeutic philosophy is rooted in humanistic, emotionally-focused, & attachment-based ideas--this is just a fancy way of saying that she believes it is her job to support her clients. Her clients are the experts in their own lives. She is simply here to help clients find their own emotional freedom & build a healthy foundation. |
